Despite falling behind twice and a lineup that looks quite a bit different than it did at the beginning of December, the Penguins found a way to win another one without Sidney Crosby. Mike Rupp looked like he might be the unlikely star for the Devils last night as he scored his first two goals of the season. But it wasn’t to be.

Without Sid Pens Lose Friday But Win Saturday!
Friday night saw the Penguins suffer a major blow against the Lightning. Not even half way into the first period Sidney Crosby took a tumble and was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain - a bug that seems to be biting the Penguins this year. The Penguins never recovered and were shutout at home with everyone scratching their heads and wondering how the team would cope.
Pens Recover Against Rangers
The Penguins are 9-0-1 in their last 10 games thanks to a victory last night against the visiting Rangers and Evgeni Malkin’s second hat trick in recent weeks.
Pens Fall To Thrashers In Shootout
The Pens winning streak became merely a points streak as they failed to hold on against the struggling Atlanta Thrashers Saturday night. If you had to ask me what was the most unfortunate event of the night however it wasn’t that the Pens lost in the shootout but rather that it was Mark Recci that beat Ty Conklin for the winning goal. Yes, this is the most unfortunate event of the night simply because it keeps Recchi delusional that he is still a top notch player and was right to pout about his being benched while with the Penguins earlier this year.
Make It Eight! Pens Down Lightning 4-1
The Penguins played another disciplined game Thursday night taking only two real penalties in the game although they did get unjustly smacked with a double minor for high sticking late in the third. Replays clearly showed the refs blew the call and showed that Shane O’Brien was cut by a high stick from another Lightning player and not Maxim Talbot who was sent to the sin bin for four minutes.
