Colby Armstrong and Erik Christensen weren’t on the bench last night as Pittsburgh took to the ice because they were packing their bags and headed to Atlanta in a trade that sent the player (Armstrong) who many consider the heart and soul of this team out the door to acquire Hossa. And since their callups from Wilks-Barre were running late there was a lot of empty space on the bench in the first period.
Pens Minus Two Teammates Down Islanders
Pens Pull Trigger On Trade - Get Hossa
I said that I would like to see the Penguins bring in one more scorer for the playoffs but I have also said that they should get someone under contract if they did. I also said that they mess with this team’s chemistry at their own peril. Well they did half of my first statement when they sent Armstrong and Christensen along with Angelo Esposito and a draft pick to Atlanta to land the big fish of the day in Marian Hossa.
Pens Beat Habs In Rollercoaster 5-4 Game
The Pens were up. Then they were down. Then they were up again. Last night’s 5-4 victory put to rest any questions about whether or not the Penguins were a team to be seriously reckoned with once the post season starts. Still missing Fleury and Crosby, the Pens continued their winning ways and Malkin continued to rack up the points.
Pens Skin The Cat - Beat Panthers 3-2
It looked like the struggling Florida Panthers in the pathetically weak Southeast Division would overcome the Pens at the Igloo last night. But despite being down 2-0 with just 20 minutes left to play, the Penguins didn’t give up.
Pens Get Back On Track With Win Against Sabres
The Penguins had a few days to think about their back to back losses to the Bruins and the Hurricanes and their free fall in the Eastern Conference standings that resulted. They remain in the playoff race by only a mere seven points. That’s how tight the East is.
